I really like to use cowbells or woodblocks in my drumming when it fits the music.
Here’s an idea how to play a woodblock with the left hand while playing the hihat and snare with the right hand. Additionally I open the hihat on the offbeat. This makes many grooves sound a bit more danceable, as this is often used in disco music. The same goes for the bass drum, which I play here in quarter notes. This is called 4 on the floor!
